On March 17, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a regular press conference. A reporter asked: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) recently stated that the current crisis in the Middle East constitutes a major humanitarian emergency. The number of refugees in the affected areas has reached 25 million, with heavy casualties among innocent civilians in Iran, about 800,000 people displaced in Lebanon, and countries including Jordan and Iraq also affected. Against this backdrop, is China considering providing humanitarian assistance to the relevant countries?

Lin Jian stated that China has always practiced the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind and upheld the spirit of internationalism and humanitarianism. The current warfare has caused severe humanitarian disasters to the people of Iran and other regional countries. China expresses its sympathy and condolences to the people of the relevant countries. China has decided to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq, hoping that this will help alleviate the humanitarian difficulties faced by local people. China will continue to make its own efforts to promote peace and end the war, push for an early restoration of peace and stability in the region, and prevent the further spread of the humanitarian crisis.
